The opening night of Body Language

The wacky Belgian Gaëtan Schmid (The Dog’s Bollocks and Rumpsteak) finally came to Johannesburg with his solo show BODY LANGUAGE, the production opened at the Old Mutual Theatre on the Square on January 17 and runs until February 4, 2012.

Body Language is a brand new, hilarious and informative comedy by South Africa’s leading edutainment comedian and physical theatre expert, Gaetan Schmid. Gaëtan, in his very own peculiar and particular way, will entertain you on a fascinating subject - the secret language of the human body. Fascinating because, even if you don’t want it, your body talks and talks and talks and talks … and it won’t ever shut up! Who ever thought that the human body could be so funny? Even the lowly goose bump gets a laugh in his masterful hands!

Anthropologically, sociologically, biologically, psychologically, neurologically but not so logically; Gaëtan will analyse the provenance of everyday gestures. Aside from its intellectual and stimulating subject matter, audiences who attend a performance of Body Language might also pick up a trick or two on how to “read” others - a boss, a spouse or even that ‘interesting’ person at the bar!

Underneath its irreverent and comedic narrative, Body Language’s social message is of ever increasing importance: human interaction and communication. Our entire societal system is based on communication. If we can improve the quality of our communication we will improve the quality of our society.
