William Nicol accident leaves 16 injured

William Nicol accident leaves 16 injured.

16 people have been injured after a truck collided with two cars at the intersection of William Nicol Drive and Ballycare Drive in Bryanston this morning June 24, 2011 at 10am.

"It seems that the truck was travelling towards Sandton from Fourways and crashed over the center island just before the robots. The truck then crashed right over the drivers compartment of a Toyota Yaris. Fortunately the woman driving the car was not injured and she later refused to be taken to hospital by ambulance. It is still not clear as to why the truck was unable to stop", said Vanessa Jackson or ER24.

There were 16 men in the truck at the time of the accident and they all sustained moderate injuries. They were all assessed on scene before being taken to various hospitals in the area for further treatment.

The driver of an SUV in attempting to avoid the accident drove over the robots at the intersection, but was also fortunately left with no physical injuries.

Accident at Ballyclare and William Nicol

I was driving at Ballyclare and the robot was red. I was a second car. The robot changed to green, the first car proceeded and I followed crossing straight Ballyclare.

A truck driving William Nicol appeared out of nowhere jumping the red robot at William Nicol and it hit my black Ford Territory on the right (drivers side). The truck proceeded hitting the robot and the light.

I'm not sure how many cars he hit but I saw him on top of the Yaris. My husband quickly rushed at the scene and I told him to look after our car that's when they towed it away.

I guess ER arrived late when my car was towed away because my car was badly damaged it was towed.

I was taken by paramedics from Netcare who dropped me at Sandton clinic with one guy who was injured from the truck.

In the ambulance he was crying indicating that too much blood is coming out of his ears.

As for me I suffered minor injuries with the chest pain however my chest is still hurting very bad.

I was released at Sandton Clinic the same day after Xray indicated no broken ribs.

I think the lady not injured is the lady who was driving one of the car that he hit after me.

I saw the police talking to the driver of the truck but never asked me anything. My ambulance was the first one to leave as the man was crying too much.

I have attached the pics that I took.
