Sandton Central Info Kiosk In The Ground
Ater almost 5 years of planning, permissions, development and design, the first Sandton Central Information Kiosk or Scout is finally in the ground. It is located outside the Marachino's restaurant on Maude Street opposite the Sandton Convention Centre.
The Scout provides pedestrians in the district information about the area that include:
- A what's on section highlighting event at various venues and on the street
- A section on transport such as Gautrain / taxis and buses
- A list of all hotels in the immediate and greater Sandton Central area
- A list of all restaurants and their contact details
- A list of all shops and their contact details
- Maps of the district
- Emergency details
All this information is accessible on a very large touch screen with the highest outdoor resolution.
As this 1st Scout is a pilot and one of 20 they have planned for the area (with 9 to be installed by November 2010) Try it out and let them know what you like and don't like, what works and what you feel should be changed.
This project is a major investment in the district's communication infrastructure and they want to do it correctly so it is very important to get feedback.
