Guide Dog Association experience the Gautrain
Members of The South African Guide Dog Association (SAGA) and their Guide Dogs in training got to try out the Gautrain facilities earlier this week. They met at Montecasino and were picked up by the Gautrain bus and taken to the Sandton station. They then boarded the Gautrain and took a trip to Rhodefields station and back to Sandton.
Pieter van Niekerk of the Guide Dogs Association said it was a very exciting experience. “It is not something new for me to travel on busses and trains and really enjoyed being able to experience the Gautrain and I found the people very friendly and helpful,”
“The train has voice overs telling passengers which stations they are stopping at and there are tab tiles on the edge of the platform as well as brail on the buttons of the lift which are fantastic for any blind person”, added Pieter van Niekerk.
“The wheelchair facility is also is also very well organised and they offer a great level of service all up to standard and the staff are well trained and know what they are doing” said Maxine Geddie or SAGA.
